This course focuses on the clinical aspects of nutritional support therapy for patients who cannot maintain adequate nutrition by the oral route. Clinical topics include indications, patient assessment, ordering, administering, monitoring, and adverse effects of both parenteral and enteral nutrition (PEN) support. Patient safety in hospital and home PEN, dmg shortages, and recent advances and research in PEN will be discussed.
